Prior to Crediton Festival 2009, an archaeological study of the Parish Church (12th Century) site and churchyard (Holy Cross Church) is planned. This work will advance the inquiry into the Saxon Cathedral. The first part of this will be a ground penetrating radar survey of the area, both inside and outside the extant Norman Church. A remote sensing technique such as this will cause no damage to the present fabric. The survey has yet to be completed but has already shown some interesting signs of early foundations.
The project has received the backing of the County Archaeologist and the survey work is being funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
